Garrett Advancing Motion has a heritage dating back to 1936 in a one room office in Los Angeles, California. The company’s founder, Cliff Garrett, established the Garrett Corporation as a one-man operation. With the support and backing of friends like Jack Northrop and Harry Wetzel, Garrett Corporation eventually became one of the leading developers of turbocharger technology.
The company went through a series of mergers and acquisitions over the years, aligned with the likes of AiResearch, AlliedSignal, Honeywell and now an independent entity Garrett - Advancing Motion. The Garrett staff of over 6,000 employees work together to engineer and manufacture leading forced induction products to automakers and engine manufacturers such as Audi, BMW, DDC, Fiat, Ford, Peugeot, Renault, Saab and Volkswagen. In addition, Garrett turbochargers are the power adder of choice for OEMs and race teams competing in CART, WRC, American Le Mans, 24 Hours of Le Mans and Pikes Peak Hill Climb, to name a few. Garrett’s OEM and motorsports development efforts help to further its consumer offerings, resulting in state of the art development and manufacturing practices.
