The 61.4mm S300SX FMW is BorgWarner Turbo Systems latest evolution of the proven Airwerks S300 turbocharger lineup. This turbo has been recently updated with their latest generation FMW 7-bladed Extended-Tip ‘billet’ compressor wheel w/ 61.4mm inducer & 83.4mm exducer in a 4″ inlet compressor cover and paired with their proven inconel turbine wheel and tough 4340 steel shaft. Available in a variety of different turbine housings, made from HSM (HiSilMoly aka Hi-Silicon, Hi-Molybdenum) for increased strength at elevated temps, compared to traditional iron turbine housings. This turbo is recommended for use in quick spooling 500-700whp applications, and uses a severe-duty, 6-pad thrust bearing system to provide unprecedented levels of durability yet remains fully serviceable. Oil Cooled only (watercooling and BB CHRA not applicable).
Turbine Wheel Blade Shape:
All of the Airwerks S300SX turbos use an inconel turbine wheel, however one unique aspect to this particular turbo is that you can choose between (2) different turbine wheel shapes; either cupped tip or flat tip. Both are identical outer dimensions and share the same turbine housing (you can swap between them) – the only difference is the actual blade shape
The S300SX FMW comes standard with flat tip in .91 a/r (maximum spool) OR cupped tip in 1.10 a/r (maximum top end). Full-Race recommends tailoring A/R size depending on the application, .88 undivided and 1.00 divided are also available

Testimonial: “the fact is the BW S300SX FMW is a ridiculously good turbo and absolutely unmatched for the price point. I’ve been trying different setups on my STI since I bought it new back in 2006… I’ve used a few of the FP bolt on turbos (regular green, HTA green, red), I used the ATP35R, Garrett 4088R, had a APS header up-pipe (four of them actually because they kept cracking), a Full-Race 1.5 scroll kit, and a Full-Race complete TS kit (what’s on the car now)… The BW S300SX FMW, by far has out performed any of my previous setups… I have spent a lot of time and money trying to make this car a respectable fast daily driver, and had all but given up before Geoff told me about this new BW turbo…This turbo just flat out kicks butt – good boost threshold, makes great power all they way up to my 8000rpms rev limiter, and the boost recover between shifts is just flat out instantaneous… I’m pretty confident that with E85, this turbo will do over 650whp with even more gains in the mid-range – I admittedly was surprised to see the boost threshold of a 35r and the power of a much larger turbo… On the dyno, we were hitting peak boost of ~29psi and then it would taper to ~27psi at redline, on the street it holds 30psi across the board.” Phil Petraca
FULL RACE RECOMMENDS MODIFYING THE TURBINE HOUSING TO 3″ VBAND. This makes downpipe fitment identical to Garrett and Precision turbos, allowing you to swap between any t4 turbocharger with 3″ vband outlet and guarantees fitment with Full-Race twinscroll turbo kits and manifolds:
- Max warm oil pressure: 5 bar (73.5psi)
- Max cold oil pressure: 8 bar (118psi)
- When starting a fresh engine build or in extremely cold climates – oil pressure must reach 0.5bar (7.2psi) within 4 seconds maximum.
- Do not load the engine with full boost and WOT until full operating oil pressure is present
- Do not load the engine with full boost and WOT if any boost leaks are present (this can result in turbocharger overspeed)
