BorgWarner EFR 9174 Turbo Produces High Power With Great Spool
The BorgWarner EFR9174 is a hybrid turbo that combines the turbine from 8374 with the compressor from 9180. EFR9174 is intended for applications that will push a turbo to the limit with high boost and critically high turbo shaft speed, especially at altitude. This unique turbo was designed to combine the high-flowing 91mm compressor with a fast spooling 74mm turbine wheel. RPM capabilities have also been improved with higher pressure ratios achieved at lower turbo shaft speed. The use of a 74mm turbine wheel allows for a max turbo speed of 125k RPM.

Why We Love It:
EFR 9174 slots between the 8374 and the 9180. It makes a little more power than 8374 and has a little earlier spool than 9180. A nice in-between turbo, one of the biggest reasons for it's popularity is the remarkably low price, it is the lowest cost B2 turbo in the lineup due to an internal pricing error at BorgWarner. Awesome turbocharger, insane performance and reliability for the money.
